Help Us Make Inclusion X-traordinary

X-tra Special Events was created for the love of my sister, who has Down syndrome, and a desire to create more opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) to connect, make friends, and have fun in an environment where they feel welcomed and included.

​​

We currently host social gatherings such as holiday parties, game nights, karaoke, and other events designed to bring people together and create lasting memories.

​

Our goal is to make these events completely free for the individuals and families we serve. We never want cost to be the reason someone misses out on an opportunity to socialize, celebrate, or simply have a great time with friends.

How to Help

​

While X-tra Special Events is currently independently organized and funded, there are many ways you can help us make these experiences possible.

​

We will share specific Amazon event wish lists throughout the year for anyone who would like to purchase an item directly for an upcoming event. We will welcome these in-kind donations of items and supplies which may include:

​

• Plates, cups, utensils, napkins, and other serving supplies

• Tablecloths and decorations

• Arts and crafts supplies

• Bingo prizes and other activity prizes

• Gifts for our holiday celebrations

• Party favors and other event supplies

• Other items that can help us create fun and memorable experiences

 

Every item donated helps us reduce the out-of-pocket cost of hosting these gatherings and allows us to continue providing them at no cost to the individuals and families who attend.

As X-tra Special Events grows, we hope to eventually establish a nonprofit organization and expand the ways we can serve the I/DD community. We also hope to offer professional party decorating and event-planning services in the future, with the goal of using our love of celebrations to help create even more opportunities for people to celebrate, connect, and belong.
